Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about a deliberately limited product.

CryptoWill is at proof-of-concept stage. These answers describe the intended technical design and current product boundaries; they are not legal or regulatory conclusions.

01Is CryptoWill itself a legal will?

No. CryptoWill is proposed technical infrastructure for executing configured smart-contract instructions. Users and professional firms remain responsible for obtaining jurisdiction-specific advice and ensuring their wider estate arrangements are valid.

02Does CryptoWill provide legal advice or act as executor?

No. CryptoWill is not designed to advise on inheritance, validate a will, act as executor, determine death or decide entitlement. The platform should remain a non-discretionary orchestration layer.

03Who controls assets placed in a vault?

The smart contract controls them according to its fixed rules. CryptoWill has no administrator withdrawal key. Before release, the original holder can terminate the vault and receive the remaining assets back.

04Can beneficiary wallets be changed?

Not within an existing vault. This is an intentional security constraint. If any beneficiary address is wrong or compromised, the holder must terminate the vault and create a new configuration.

05Who can stop a claim during the delay?

Only the original holder can reject a claim or terminate the vault. An attestor, beneficiary or CryptoWill operator cannot force assets back to the holder wallet.

06What approval is required?

The POC requires a threshold of at least two-thirds of configured attestors, and the designated professional attestor must be among those who approve. A vault may set a higher threshold.

07What evidence does CryptoWill store?

The intended model stores no identity documents, death certificates, probate records, legal advice or case notes. A minimal opaque reference may link an onchain claim to an external process operated by the relevant professional.

08Can I continue using assets deposited in the vault?

No. Deposited assets are locked under the vault rules until the holder terminates the vault or beneficiary claims complete. A future smart-account design could offer more flexibility, but it is outside this POC.

09Should participants use hardware wallets?

Yes for any material value. The recommended model uses a dedicated hardware-controlled Ethereum account for the holder and every signer, with independent recovery arrangements. Software wallets are acceptable only for testnet rehearsal.

10Is CryptoWill ready for real assets?

No. The current software is an unaudited Ethereum Sepolia proof of concept. Independent security audit, legal analysis, operating controls and controlled pilot evidence are required before production use.

11Does this website track visitors?

The current website uses no analytics, advertising pixels, marketing cookies, contact forms or customer profiles. Normal infrastructure security logs may still be processed by the hosting provider.
